Previously the concerts with Artist in residence Lise Davidsen, contemporary circus performance Humans 2.0 and new dance and theatre performances have been launched. Now, the Festival presents 21 new events to the lineup in venues including Grieghallen, Håkonshallen and the composers’ homes.
A wide range of music
Here you will find music by Festival composer Anne-Marie Ørbeck, Lise Davidsen in a different role and folk music with Gjermund Larsen, Fabio Biondi and Lodestar Trio. In addition, the Festival features international and Norwegian artists including Isabelle Faust, Gautier Capuçon, Nobuyuki Tsujii, Opus13, Christian Wallumrød, Marius Neset and the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra. The festival isn’t complete without its signature work, Grieg’s Concerto in A minor, which will be performed with Alice Sara Ott as the soloist at the Closing concert.
‘What we include today as part of the term 'classical music' is in reality more than a thousand years of music from a great number of places, cultures and traditions. During this year’s Festival, you can experience some of the range of this great and complex musical universe,’ says Festival director Lars Petter Hagen.
