Sondre Lerche, Nils Bech, Arooj Aftab, Hania Rani and Motorpsycho are amongst the artists in the latest Festival launch.

Among the 13 new events added to the line-up today are three events at the theatre Den Nationale Scene: Singer-songwriter Sondre Lerche's new performance, Neuromantics, features harpist Mary Lattimore, violinist Tim Fain and many more in a stellar team of musicians.

Nils Bech’s performance with artists from the Norwegian National Ballet and Oslo Strings is a new take on his musical universe in the landscape between art, classical and pop music. Sacrificing with Motorpsycho and renowned dancer Hooman Sharifi takes inspiration from Stravinsky's The Rite of Spring.

Genre-defying music

Hania Rani – a Polish classical punk musician – will perform her award-winning compositions on piano and synthesizer in Grieghallen with her band. Australian Anthony Romaniuk will be surrounded by keys in Håkonshallen. Pakistani artist Arooj Aftab brings her music which draws on neo-sufi, minimalism and jazz.

Concert series with eclectic music at Kulturhuset

This year’s Festival will also fill Kulturhuset with artists that have a wide range of musical expressions, that all have a base in art music.

Scottish Anna Meredith makes ecstatic, endlessly danceable music with her band. American Mary Lattimore will give a solo performance in addition to Sondre Lerche’s Neuromantics, while Icelandic Eurovision icon Daði Freyr visits Bergen for the first time – both at Kulturhuset and at a shorter, free concert at the Festival Square. Violinist Elia Lombardini also follows up the free Festival Square concert with a performance at Kulturhuset featuring a dramatic, pulsating mix of violin and electronic music.

Norwegian bands, the eclectic JUNO and innovative han gaiden will also be featured at Kulturhuset, and more events will be launched at this venue later in March.
