The fight against the corona virus means that it might not be possible to execute this year’s festival as planned. The pandemic puts severe limitations on society, and we’re frequently asked if the festival will take place at all this year. Current preventative measures from the government last until after the Easter holidays, but it is likely that the Festival will be affected by further measures in some way or another.
We support the national effort to prevent the further spread of the disease and are working to adapt this year’s festival to the current situation. We are in talks with artists and partners to try to find solutions and are cutting costs where we can.
At the moment we can’t say anything more definite about the 2020 Bergen International Festival, and we hope for your understanding. We’ll be back with more info as soon as we can.
We wish nothing more than to present a beautiful, thought-provoking and challenging festival programme, but right now other considerations take presedence. Wash your hands, stay at home, follow official guidelines from the health authorities – and support artists who are finding new and creative ways of sharing their art!
