Håkonshallen was built by Håkon Håkonsson as a royal residence and banqueting hall. Håkonshallen (Håkon’s Hall) has taken its name from its first builder, King Håkon Håkonsson, and was erected between 1247 and 1261. Håkonshallen has been a regular venue for the Bergen International Festival.

Wheelchair access: Very limited access. Access for wheelchair users is difficult. Considerable assistance is necessary to negotiate the courtyard, and wheelchairs must be carried into the building and up the stairs to the hall.

Parking is available at the Rosenkrantzgaten parking garage, in addition to some on-street parking in the vicinity.
Cars may be driven to the entrance and drop off and pick up mobility impaired passengers.

Snekkerbakken at the venue is open on days with good weather from 01 May. Primarily from 12:00 to 20:00.
