From Datarock to the Devil.
Fredrik Saroea is perhaps best known as the vocalist and frontman of the band Datarock but has also made a name for himself as a solo artist. The critically acclaimed pandemic project Rona Diaries with BIT20 Ensemble was recorded during the 2022 Bergen International Festival, and the guitarist and songwriter has long been active in the jazz quintet Fredrik Saroea Quintet.
Datarock rose to fame in 2005 with hits like Fa-fa-fa and Computer Camp Love and their iconic red tracksuits. As a solo artist, Saroea explores a broader musical spectrum and other themes.
This year, he makes his stage debut as the Devil in The Master and Margarita, produced by Den Nationale Scene in collaboration with the Bergen International Festival. At the Festival square, Saroea presents excerpts from his extensive catalogue and performs with saxophonist Kjetil Traavik Møster and Stian Balducci, also known by the artist name +plattform, on electronics.
