Jiri Hlinka’s 80th birthday celebration with students and mentors on the same stage.
After intense masterclasses and a lot of practice, five young international piano students will have refined their repertoire, working with and receiving guidance from Håvard Gimse, Leif Ove Andsnes and Bertrand Chamayou in Rasmussen Samlingene.
Prof. Jiri Hlinka Piano Academy was established in 2008 and its founder, Prof. Jiri Hlinka, has taught many of the most prominent pianists in Norway today. The professor, who celebrates his 80th birthday this spring, has been instrumental for the development of the Norwegian piano scene. Hlinka came to Norway from the Czech Republic in 1972 and is referred to as Norway's great piano key wizard.
In this masterclass concert, the young talents perform their own programme which is put together with the help of their mentors. At the concert, both masterclass participants and Hlinkas former students – Leif Ove Andsnes, Håvard Gimse, Christian Ihle Hadland and Geir Botnen – will participate on stage in the celebration of the professor's 80th birthday.
