Chamber music in the works.
As an international soloist, cellist Amalie Stalheim has both commissioned and performed new cello concertos and chamber music. She is particularly interested in creating connections between the music of the past and the present, and last year initiated a mentoring programme named Classical link for young string players. This year, Classical link is expanded with workshops and mentoring for young composers under the direction of Norwegian composer Therese Ulvo.
The programme is a creative meeting place for writers and performers of music. During the Festival, the participants will take part in four masterclasses, two for solo pieces and two for chamber music, which are open to the audience.
This year's Classical link musicians are violinist Martha-Pil Neumer, violist Inger Margrethe Furre Thommesen and cellist Sophie Kauer. Together with their mentors, they will work with both old and new repertoire, the latter being written by the composers in the programme. The programme is concluded with a concert in the University aula.

Amalie Stalheim also features in the concert Premiere Wednesday 29 May.
