Student artists stop by the outdoor stage.
Students from the Grieg Academy (UiB) have been organising the daytime concert series Drop-in concerts during the Bergen International Festival for 50 years. In celebration of the anniversary, the Festival has invited two new ensembles to come to the Festival square. Here, they will perform a free outdoor concert each.
First up is the ensemble Boreas, named after the Greek god of cold north winds and winter. The trio consists of Sergio Llorente Gutierrez on violin, Johanna Saaek on cello, and Marie Heddan Kortner on piano.
Also at the Festival square is a brass quintet that started up last fall, with members ranging from the second year of their bachelor's studies to postgraduate education.
– Here, we have the opportunity to get to know the quintet repertoire, rehearse independently, develop as a group, and, not least, to convey music. We are very excited to perform at the Festival square, says Jonathan Grech, who plays the tuba in the quintet.
