Urban sports in an adrenaline-fuelled performance.
Elements of Freestyle is a show of extreme urban art that merges dance, music, and sport into a pulsating and poetic universe. Featuring breakdance, freerunning, BMX, and skating, this performance by the Dutch ISH Dance Collective brings the streets to the stage.
The show is directed by Marco Gerris, the founder of the collective and a leading choreographer in the Netherlands. Both he and the collective have won awards for their unconventional performances, which always push the boundaries of genre.
In a shifting landscape of ramps and scaffolding, the ten performers combine art and action. The performance highlights the freestylers' total focus on the moment, the ecstacy and the feeling of complete and total freedom in those fleeting moments when everything aligns. Whether you float on ballet shoes or on skates, with ISH, it's all dance.
The cast includes world champion freerunner Bart Van Der Linden, BMX champion Dez Maarzen, and breakdancer Arnold Put, alongside musicians Annie Tangberg on cello and Vera van der Bie on violin.
