The Festival musician and the Soloists’ choir on the free stage.

Folk music has a distinctive sound, intonation, and rhythm, and Festival musician Grete Pedersen has, throughout her career, done pioneering work with folk music for choir. By inviting folk musicians into the choral process, she has developed a way of performing folk tunes that preserves the characteristics of the music. This approach has become one of the trademarks of the Norwegian Soloists’ Choir under her leadership.

At the Festival square this afternoon, the choir offers a taste of the rich folk music tradition, along with a few surprises – featuring the Norwegian Soloists’ Choir in both large and small formations.

Later the same evening, the Norwegian Soloists’ Choir and Festival musician Grete Pedersen will give a concert in Korskirken, and on Thursday 29 May they will share the stage with Emilie Nicolas in Grieghallen.
