Sing with a choir that spans generations.
Together with Herborg Kråkevik and Gabriel Fliflet, song-loving children and grandparents come together for a session of community singing and group songs, including Vi skal ikkje sove bort sumarnatta, Blåmann Blåmann bukken min, and the Bergen song Anne Madam.
Between conversations, masterclasses, film screenings, and concerts, the Generasjon – a festival on ageing will take a trip to the Festival square. Here, the audience can join in with the Generation choir, led by conductor Håkon Matti Skrede. This year's choir at the Festival square consists of the school choir at Møhlenpris – which was established after last year's Festival – and the mixed choir KORFUH.
'I hope to involve the whole community in song, and in this way raise awareness about daring to use your voice. It's important to hear your own voice, listen to others' voices, and sing together,' said the conductor when he led the people’s choir that opened the 2024 Bergen International Festival.

This year's theme for Generation is the ageing of boys and men. The programme includes, among other things, a morning rave at Korskirken, concerts, debates, masterclasses, and workshops at Litteraturhuset, Bergen Public Library, and Kode. The day will conclude with a festive dinner at Korskirken.
The first edition of Generation took place in 2024, featuring, among other things, group singing and speeches at the Festival square. The festival is a broad, interdisciplinary collaboration, initiated by the GC Rieber Foundations and festival director Anna Helle-Valle.
