A magical tale about discovering oneself.

Amid whispering trees and dancing beams of light, we meet the wooden puppet Pinocchio, who dreams of becoming a real human with free will. Along the way, he encounters many who wish him harm and others who mean him well. Can Pinocchio make the right choices when faced with challenges? And what if being human isn’t the answer after all?

In this musical family production, the tale of Pinocchio is brought to life anew. Together with the actors, large and small puppets animate the characters in a world where magic, nature, and humanity converge.

This version of Pinocchio returns to the original stories by Carlo Collodi and will have its world premiere at the Bergen International Festival. In a landscape of visual poetry and enchanting music, the entire family is invited to experience a performance about belonging, transformation, and the profound journey of finding oneself.

Pinocchio is a co-production by the Bergen International Festival and Oslo Nye Teater, known for its powerful, beautiful performances with cross-generational appeal. Anne Lilia Berge Strand, perhaps better known as the award-winning pop artist Annie, has composed the music especially for this production.
