Living room concert with Grieg and Beethoven.
Throughout his life, Edvard Grieg composed the short musical works Lyric Pieces. The collection grew into ten volumes, which quickly found their way into people’s homes.
Grieg's music has been a constant in pianist Shani Diluka's career, from her first solo release featuring works from the volumes, and the A minor concerto. In Grieg's living room, Diluka will perform a selection from Lyric Pieces alongside Beethoven's Piano Sonata No. 23, Appassionata.
Shani Diluka chose the piano at the age of six, as part of a programme for talented young musicians established by Princess Grace of Monaco. Since then, the pianist has had an international career and gained recognition for combining classical music with raga from her Sri Lankan roots.
