A Bergen star producer with music from his debut album and surprise guests.
Although Askjell Solstrand may be an unknown name to many, he is no beginner in the music industry. As a songwriter and producer, the 27-year-old from Bergen has already made his mark on songs from some of the country's most renowned and popular artists, such as Aurora, Sigrid, Emilie Nicolas and dePresno.
Now, Askjell emerges from behind the mixing desk for the first time. While the producer has highlighted other artists' musical works, he has been composing his own material. This was first released on an EP in 2019, to which BT reported: "To Be Loved is like a peephole into the producer's brain and is a patchwork quilt of his own sounds and desires (...) Askjell's use of EDM breaks with the emotional and intricate compositions, which are initially at the crossroads between classical and electropop."
In the spring of 2022, the debut album Everything will be ok will be released, and the Bergen International Festival audience will be the first in the world to experience the material live. Several of the artists he has worked with during his vibrant career will also perform at his concert in Håkonshallen.
The music can best be described as pure, beautiful and modern neoclassical, making the listener feel like time is standing still. It will make the hopelessness and frustration of today's absurd world feel palpable to the audience and simultaneously awaken optimism for the future. An infatuation with all the good things around us and an embrace that confirms that everything will be fine.
