Sami-Norwegian Joar Nango is regarded as one of Norway's most interesting artists and has over the past decade developed an impressive
interdisciplinary practice that touches on global high-level issues.
Nango's artistic practice explores the boundaries between
design, architecture, philosophy and visual arts, with an emphasis on
indigenous identity, climate issues and marginalization of ethnic groups. His
work is often based on observed contradictions in contemporary architecture
inspired by the informal building traditions in the north.
The Bergen Kunsthall festival exhibition consists of new
works, produced specifically for the exhibition.
The Festival exhibition is one of Norway's most important
contemporary art exhibitions and is regarded as the most prestigious assignment
for a Norwegian artist in their home country. The exhibition has been curated and
shown in Bergen Kunsthall every year since 1953.
