The winner of the Grieg Competition returns to Troldhaugen.

The Japanese pianist Fuko Ishii was the winner of the 2022 Edvard Grieg International Piano Competition.

In the periodical Kontekst, Aslaug Olette Klausen wrote 'There was a moment when Fuko Ishii made me understand the feeling of a piece of music in a way I had never done before' about Ishii's performance of Grieg's A minor Concerto. Of 247 entrants, 26 reached the main competition, with the prize of 30 000 euros and offers of concert performances in Norway and abroad awarded to Fuko Ishii.

This spring she returns to Bergen to give two solo recitals in Grieg's villa, performing Ravel, Brahms and two Bergen composers: Anne-Marie Ørbeck and Edvard Grieg.
