Accordionist Geir Draugsvoll last visted the Bergen International Festival in 2018 in connection with his performance of Sofia Gubaidulina's Fachwerk, which she wrote for him. This year he is joined by Danish pianist Mette Rasmussen in two recitals: one in the mountain cavern at Solstrand and the other in Knarvik Church, performing Nordic contemporary and folk music alongside the duo's trademark – works by the father of Tango Nuevo, the Argentinian composer Astor Piazzolla.
Geir Draugsvoll will guide audiences through the history of his instrument and share stories about the music and its background.
A virtuoso with a broad repertoire, Geir Draugsvoll has appeared at festivals and concert venues worldwide. In demand as an orchestral soloist, he has collaborated with numerous composers. Mette Rasmussen has performed extensively in concert and on television and radio in China and throughout Europe, and her recordings include Sentiments – French piano music.
