Welcome to the grand opening of the 67th Bergen International Festival!

The official opening ceremony will take place at Edvard Griegs plass (Edvard Grieg's square), right outside Grieghallen, where artistic performances, speeches and the Bergen song Utsigter fra Ulriken will mark the beginning of this year's Festival.

The Bergen International Festival has commissioned a new work by composer and musician Martin Horntvedt for the occasion. The work will be performed by some of Norway's most outstanding instrumentalists, together with musicians from the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra and the Bergen Boys Choir.

Her Majesty Queen Sonja of Norway will attend the official opening of the Festival. His Majesty the King is the Festival's high protector, as was both his father King Olav and his grandfather King Haakon.

The opening ceremony is free and open to everyone. Welcome to the official start of 15 days of festivities, foundations and friction, and experiences which will linger in soul and body!

Please find the full programme here.
