A talk about
Shakespeare and
A Midsummer Night's Dream
Ca. 45 min
Meet Trine Wiggen and Eirik del Barco Soleglad.
The closing concert of this year’s Bergen International Festival features Mendelssohn’s iconic music, and actors from Den Nationale Scene step into Shakespeare’s enchanting and contrast-filled world.
A Midsummer Night’s Dream was most likely commissioned for a wedding within Queen Elizabeth I’s inner circle, sometime between 1594 and 1596, with the intention of both delighting and provoking the rich wedding guests. The work has since become a classic with timeless connotations.
Ahead of the performance at the closing concert, Trine Wiggen and Eirik del Barco Soleglad share their thoughts on Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream and reflect on their relationship with the world’s most performed playwright. Del Barco Soleglad appears on stage in the role of the mischievous forest spirit Puck, while Wiggen directs the production.
The conversation takes place at Lille DNS, Den Nationale Scene’s new meeting place at Fortunen/Tårnplass.
The event is free, but you must reserve a ticket via dns.no
