With a sampling of humoresques, fantasies, lyric pieces and folk dances pianist Oda Voltersvik revives forgotten voices, placing them side by side with folk dances and lyric pieces by Edvard Grieg in his living room at Troldhaugen.
Recently, the pianist from Bergen has presented a project focusing on Nordic female composers, highlighting the music by Elfrida Andrée, Laura Netzel, Agathe Backer Grøndahl, Pauline Hall, and Inger Bang Lund – all featured in this Friday evening concert in May.
‘Being aware of the struggles these female composers met in their time; my wish is primarily to bring light to their individual expressions – here resonating with works by Edvard Grieg’, says Voltersvik.
Voltersvik has toured internationally and won piano competitions since receiving her Master in Performance Degree at the Royal College of Music London. She has released three albums, all of which have received critical acclaim for their well-thought-out programme choices, technical skill, and artistic expression.
